Be Whatever You Are...

Teen Bulimia Research and Treatment...People needed!

Columbia Medical is doing a private research study for teens with disordered eating, targeting those with bulimia. The point of this study is to learn why these teens are developing eating disorders through MRIs, interviews, games and puzzles.

Treatment, free of charge, will be provided for girls in need. Compensation (up to $400) will also be provided for participation. Parental consent is required for girls under 18 years of age.

To free us from the expectations of others, to give us back to ourselves—there lies the great, singular power of self-respect.

BEAT BULIMIA!

This is something to keep in mind, if you feel like somebody you know might be bulimic make sure to watch not only their habits about food but also take notice about their facial features. It is common for people to suffer from broken blood vessels in the whites of their eyes or even on their face from induced vomiting.

Another physical sign can be caluss’ on the index fingers.

Stay aware!

A DREAM COME TRUE!

Hello world of Tumblr, it has been much too long!

I have some wonderful news I want to share :) As is obvious through this blog I have created I am extremely interested in being an activist and healthy body image promotions as well as more awareness projects for eating disorders. I have been working along as much as I can in my community with the Eating Disorder Awareness Task Force, volunteering in various ways with the National Eating Disorder Association, and pulling together events about awareness on my current college campus in Montana and even co-created a group called GLOW (great leaders outstanding women). I have been working hard at building more awareness and now the opportunity has been granted to continue this work on a graduate level.

About a month ago I was accepted to a graduate program in New York City for a Master of Arts in Media Studies focusing on Social Media and Social Change and today I made it official :) I cannot wait to mold everything together and spread the word about the dangers of eating disorders.

I am feeling honored and excited about this opportunity being promoted right in front of me and I hope to share my journey with all of you, for you all reading this have given me the extra push helping me see that what I am doing is helping people and the point is reaching others out there.

:)

Beauty: Do We Get Too Specific About What It Means To Be 'Beautiful'?

Tell me, what made you guys awesome and beautiful when you were kids? Because I guarantee that still makes you beautiful :)

Joy 4 Body and Soul by Holly Alastra

I have been speaking with this woman through email as well as keeping up with her blog and it is really something that I have come to adore. It has helped me on even my worst days and today I found myself reading it just like a book and I couldn’t stop. Take a look :)

Many of us who have struggled with ED have a special person in our lives and hearts that helped push us forward through recovery and into a healthier lifestyle. One year ago today cancer took that person away from me, but he continues to push me everyday and has helped me push on to create this page to help others. Take a moment today to thank those people in your life who have helped you through the process of recovery. Let them know how much they mean to you!

Something to practice both when it comes to undereating and overeating.
